Midnight Low tide I'm sleepless Dreams escape me Holding on 'Til dawn comes Blowing in On a cruel wind When did love go away In the night I long for you Been down In lonely town Cold streets Empty faces I'm broken The night rolls in Blowing in On a cruel wind Who hears me when I cry In the night I'll cry for you So tired Another mile I'm hopeless Peace escapes me Hanging on I'm fading fast I'm blown along By a cruel wind When did you go away In the night I searched for you Rainstorm Coming on Blinded Sight eludes me My heart aches Someone speaks Small voice On a cruel wind "I'll never leave your side In the night I'll carry you" Through the pain of a broken heart When my world is torn apart Your love goes on and on Down a string of empty years Through the night Through all my tears Your love goes on and on
Dust motes dancing
I'm re-running this post from October simply because I find it reflective of my mood on this blustery Thursday morning.
Why are the streets always wet in the movies?
I have my own theory, but I was wondering if you knew
It's kind of quiet out tonight
Looks like I may be the only one who can't sleep
It won't be the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last
I think it's because of the tears...
You know, the wet streets
All those forlorn, timeworn and world-weary
Phone-talking
Tube-watching
Quietly desperate ones
Just sitting, waiting for the dawn
Watercolor dreams
Left out in the rain
Washed away
Run away into the night
And down the wet streets
In the night scenes
And the night seems to never end
Bus stop-waiting shell of a man
Burned out, used up
Strung out
There is no doubt
In his misty eyes I can see it
Can't believe it
Try to run away before it takes me
Can't let it break me
We grow older
Edge closer
To consider the fragments left behind
While the years pass
Taking from our lives a heavy toll
After midnight...
That's when the tears begin to fall
Then drop by soul-wringing drop they run together
Until the night is saturated in a mist of sorrow
No wonder the streets are wet
RG...out!
